Old Box Chest Lock Victorian Brass 4 Lever Has 1 Working Key and Locking Plate

Here I have for sale a very nice, and very hard to find SPECIALIST MEDIUM SIZE  Late Victorian era 4 lever box / chest lock complete with 1 working original key which still works the lock perfectly with a nice silky smooth action.

This lock has very good 4 lever security and is also complete with the original brass keeper locking plate.  

This lock is from my personal vintage lock collection and dates from the 1880's late Victorian era.

It is in perfect working order and in good used condition. its brass work looks great for its age ! 

Buyer to note that the lock case on this lock is not in the center of the back plate (like most box locks are), this means it is to one side (more towards the right hand side when looking at the lock from the front keyhole side), so you may need to be handy with a chisel to get it to fit your box successfully if needed.

Also the key has some bad rust pitting marks from corrosion, It has been cleaned up but these marks still remain and only add to the original character of this great antique Victorian lock.   

This great lock is now a collector's item due to its vintage age and it's super rarity, It was probably handmade back in the day with basic hand tools by a skilled lock maker. 

This is a good quality very secure EARLY 4 lever box/chest lock from the later Victorian era. 

Please see all 18 pictures and study them carefully as they show the actual lock you are buying and the over all condition that it is in including any marks and imperfections it has. The last few pictures also show some relevant measurements that may be needed. 

The measurements of this lock are below:-

Size of lock top face is 73.8 mm long by 14 mm wide (this is the top side with the two square holes).

Size of lock back plate is 73.8 mm long by 43 mm high. 

The distance between the top edge of this lock to the center of where the key hole pin is, is 28.5 mm.

The measurements of the lock case that is recessed into the wood and hidden is approx 47 mm wide by 39.5 mm high by approx 8.2 mm deep. 

Size of the keeper plate is 73.8 mm long by approx 14 mm wide.

The total length of the key is 58.5 mm.

I have described this item to the best of my knowledge and this lock is in good working order and in good / fair used condition for it's age.
