Post Box Chubb Lock 1954 1 Working Key Brass 5 Lever Suit Some Small Post Boxes

Here I have for sale a really fabulous and hard to find vintage CHUBB 5 lever high security solid brass LEFT HANDED post box lock... complete with one NON ORIGINAL working key with has some wobble but still works the lock very well with a nice action.

This lock came from an old Post Box, It has been in my personal lock collection for many years, it is very unusual ! and is in great condition having been refurbished many years ago and stored in an airtight container (jam jar) ever since.

It may fit some post boxes... or on the other hand it could be used as a small safe or cupboard lock as it is very secure with the 5 levers and strong locking bolt.

This lock is complete with 1 working key (not the original Chubb key) but it still does the job as intended. 

This lock is LEFT HANDED (with the keyhole on the left hand side when looking at the door from the front when it opens out towards you) and is stamped "CHUBB" followed by "LONDON" and it is stamped "1954" at the bottom.

It dates from the early 1950's era and is in fantastic used condition showing the beauty of the solid brass and it looks absolutely stunning with its gleaming satin finish brass work !

This great lock is now a collector's item due to its vintage age and its rarity. 

This is a very high quality 5 lever solid brass lock which is extremely well made at a time when materials were much cheaper and people took more time and pride in their work. 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY ARE A FEW DIFFERENT TYPES OF VINTAGE POST BOX LOCKS, THIS ONE IS THE SMALLER TYPE LOCK AND MAY NOT FIT ALL POST BOXES - LOCK IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER AND IS BEING SOLD AS A COLLECTOR'S ITEM ONLY.

Please see all  20 pictures and study them carefully as they show the actual lock you are buying and the over all condition that it is in including any marks and imperfections it may have. The pictures also show some relevant measurements that may be needed. 

The measurements of this lock are below:-

Height of lock back plate is 76.5 mm.

Width of lock back plate is 38.5 mm. 

The distance between the left edge of this lock to the center of where the key hole is, is 19 mm

The measurements of the lock case part that protrudes is 38.5 mm wide by 50.5 mm high. 

The depth of this lock is 16.5 mm.

The total length of the key is APPROX 113 mm.

I have described this item to the best of my knowledge and this lock is in good working order and in fantastic used condition.
