Seller's Description

Hi there and welcome to this listing,

Here I have for sale one very rare and hard to find 1870's vintage 3 lever Victorian Mortice dead Lock and 1 working key which works the lock well with a nice solid snap action.

There is a brass keeper plate and 4 brass wood screws included with this lock.

This lock is suitable for both left and right hand doors as there is no latch bolt on this lock to worry about.

This lock has 3 levers (plus some internal warding) and is quite a secure lock.

"Warding" means that a lock has some extra metal (brass) protruding inside of the lock from the lock case, this is of a certain profile and in order for the key to fit inside the lock or turn, it must have the same sort of corresponding profile cut out at the bottom (and top) of the key flag, if the key does not have the same corresponding profile cut out at the bottom (and top) of the key flag, then it simply will not fit inside the lock or turn.

This lock is from my personal collection of vintage locks and dates from the 1870's Victorian era.

It is an early 3 spring lever mortice dead lock that has been beautifully made and engineered to work well.

It is in good working order and in great condition so looks great despite its age and many years of use.

Please bare this in mind that this is a very old lock from the 1870's era and it may have some age related marks and show signs of many years use. Please see all photos and study them carefully before you decide to buy this fabulous vintage lock, as I always do my very best to give an 100% honest description.

Again, This lock in good condition for its vintage age but being an USED, old original lock it does have some marks and show some obvious signs of use and wear which only adds to its original character ! so please bare this in mind before you decide to buy this great rare antique lock and study all the photographs very carefully as they show the actual lock that you will receive and also some relevant measurements that may be needed.

Measurements for this lock are below;-

Size of lock face: 121.5 mm high by 22 mm wide by approx 6 mm in depth.

Size of lock body or lock case is: 75 mm long by 72 mm high by 13 mm thick. (the lock case length is excluding the 6 mm thickness of the front steel lock plate and the shiny brass face plate).

Total depth of this lock is: 81 mm. (this is including the 6 mm thickness of the front steel lock plate and the shiny brass face plate).

The measurement from the front face of this lock to the center of the key hole is 53 mm.

The measurements of the keeper plate are 73 mm high by 23 mm wide.

The thickness of the brass keeper plate is 1.5 mm.

The total length of the key is approx 66 mm (just over 2" 3/4 inches long)

This lock can be used on left and right hand doors that open in or outwards.

This lock is not suitable for sliding type doors, If you need a sliding door lock then checkout my other listings I may have a lock that is designed for sliding type doors listed for sale.

PLEASE STUDY ALL 13 PHOTOS as they form a very big part of the DESCRIPTION in this listing and they show any imperfections that this lock may have as well as they show some of the most relevant measurements that are needed.

I have described this item to the best of my knowledge and this lock is in perfect working order and in fantastic used condition.
