World War One/Titanic/Downton Abbey Lady in Day Wear.

From about 1910, ladies fashions began to change from the long sweeping lines of the early Edwardian era to a much simpler and elegant style. Straighter skirts and looser, less restrictive bodices echoed the Empire lines at the turn of the previous century and hemlines gradually began to rise to ankle length or just above by the end of the First World War.

This lovely lady stands approx. five and a half inches tall and is made from fine quality bisque porcelain. She has a porcelain torso to the waist, lower legs to the knee and porcelain arms to the elbow. The rest of her body is soft with wiring to make her poseable.

She wears a deep burgundy red cotton suit with flat pleat-fronted ankle length skirt and matching long jacket. The suit is trimmed with flat ivory braid and tiny gold beads. A cream lace blouse can be seen at the top of the jacket neckline, and around her waist is a plain black real leather belt with tiny golden buckle. She has wrist length black painted gloves and carries a black real leather bag in one hand.

This lovely lady’s strawberry blonde hair is dressed softly underneath a stylish straw hat trimmed with a feather.

Underneath she wears white cotton lace-trimmed drawers and matching slim-line petticoat along with black painted ankle boots.

This doll would make a wonderful Christmas or birthday present for somebody special or why not treat yourself.
