Doncaster 1977, Datsun Car & Bus at Cleveland Street, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large approx 11" inch x 8" inch photo of a period street scene at Cleveland street roundabout, in Doncaster in 1977. Everything today is very much the same, even down to the 1960's railing-topped concrete walling, although the ABC Cinema sign has long since gone. In the distance across the car park is 'Jimmy Hayes Amusement Centre', whilst to the right of it is the 'Greenwood Records' shop, in front of which is parked a Skoda saloon car.
The bus is a South Yorkshire PTE, 1962 Roe bodied Daimler CVG6/30, fleet number 144, registration plate 2144ET, route 158 and destination board 'Conanby'. It is pictured in heavy traffic, pulling away from Cleveland Road alongside a 1975 Datsun saloon car (registration MAK687P), whilst behind it is a 1976 Citroen Ami, which in turn is followed by a ex-Doncaster Corporation Leyland Titan PD/2 Driver Training Vehicle, with a registration plate of 388KDT and a fleet number of D12, and which is now preserved in the South Yorkshire Transport Museum.
