Why doesn't Ebid show the number of bids in the galleries?

I wouldn't advise that strategy here. Start your listings at a price you would be happy with, set them to go for a decent time (I used 14 days, others 7) and 10 autoreposts, List, list and list some more, use bin so you get google shopping presence, promote.. facebook, twitter, with flyers in your sales on other sites and then you make sales here.

I've been here a while and I'm now making daily sales. My feedback, like that of many sellers, does not represent anything like the full picture. Less than half my buyers leave feedback.

I have been selling on ebay for years and i prefer to see number of bids.That would help analyze the popularity of the items concerned.

I've three selling accounts in the other place - the newest is very new but the others have been around for years (not huge but feedback in the low thousands). I have experience of both sites so please take some notice of what I and others have said about the differences between there and here. Bids or views here are (a) not going to appear any time soon, because management have said so, and (b) not that indicative of the likelihood of a sale.

You can be successful here but not using the same techniques as over there.

I'm afraid I don't quote understand the (b) part of this. I'm pretty sure that a bid would indicate that a sale is not only likely but virtually assured.

Your are right, but I was referring to views, Jabek. I thought about editing it but then couldn't be bothered. Listing & Christmas shopping came higher up my list of priorities.

I'm not generally regarded as having a short fuse but I have been on here too long to be especially tolerant of people telling me how it should be after 5 minutes. I accept disagreement, but an opinion must be informed.

Madelaine, if you need a short fuse there's currently 609 auctions for fuses, so I'm sure you'll find at least one short enough!

Gazza said in the newsletter that MAO sales were doing very well.

So perhaps they would surpise themselves if they listed bids again.

on TM in NZ a LOT of my sales are made after the auction closes with make on offer TO the bidders and watchers.

Still waiting.... just because a few cheerleaders knock it ruins it for all sellers here and the huge influx in buyers ""within 6 Months""f ollowing the initiating of showing Bids to scrollers of sub-cats. This is awful not showing Bids... no wonder big sellers avoid it here or come look and leave within 6 weeks .
