It really doesn't matter why I wanted to know the amount of pages, what matters is that the seller is no where to be found. I don't think I should have to justify why I asked a question. Mybe that is why some poeple don't ask questions, they are made to feel like they should justify it to someone that has nothing to do with it.
I asked someone a question regarding an item they are selling and I`m still waiting on an answer, this then makes me wonder if it`s just been abandoned on ebid and they have sold it else where or can`t be bothered to reply.
This would probably drive us away from eBid.
For the items we sell, "Run until sold" is the perfect option. We know it could take a long time for the right buyer to come along. When an item is relisted, the link changes and it takes a while for the search engines to get the new one. During that period, we could lose the one buyer who would have bought it if the link worked. I use search engines a lot, and I frequently select a page and find it is no longer available.
Also, we already have over 2,000 listings with many more to add. To go back and relist items every day would simply take too much of our limited time.
As Kimbo pointed out, the problem isn't the kind of listing, it's the sellers. I think the simplest fix would be the one already suggested; require sellers to log in at least once a month and SHUT THEM DOWN IF THEY DON'T.
It could be the sellers e/mail provider is throwing the questions out as junk mail.
Interesting! I would never think to ask about the number of pages in a book I was thinking of buying. I don't think I've cared about the number of pages in a book since elementary school.
I take that back. I had to download a manual once and since I have a habit of reading such things in bed I printed it out. That was one time I should have questioned the number of pages as it turned out I ran out of pre-punched paper and had to pause the printing to run out and get some. The thing was 398 pages of really boring stuff.
As you may have guessed I'm not a regular book seller.

Not much. If we can no longer relist for more than two times (which represents maybe 14 days time), then we do NOT appear on google searches. If we do not appear on google searches we lose business.
Ebid is clear, if you do not get an answer in 24 hours, REPORT the seller and the item will be closed. Simple as can be. Why go to extremes (forbidding all sellers from relisting automatically) when all it takes is an email?
I guess it is easier to pretend there is something 'wrong" with ebid, and that ebid is unresponsive to buyer's concerns. That certainly makes better forum foder than to remind everyone that the rules are in place and just need to be followed.
This same discussion goes on and on about items in the wrong category. Again, ebid asks that we report the item and it will be pulled. Simple. No, people write into the forums again and again. Something is wrong with ebid that it allows this. Again, if you see a problem (no email answer, item in wrong category), you must report it. Simple as that!
Let me ask you this, what is so wrong with reporting someone who is breaking ebid rules and inconveniencing others? Why must we propose many solutions, when the simpliest one works if we only follow it?
