Default Sellers that list and then don't come back

There needs to be a way to figure out which stores are being monitored by the sellers ande which ones are not. I have been waiting on an answer to a question on a book I would like to purchase but I have not gotten a response to how many pages it is. I first sent an email Aug. the 12th and have sent 7 nudges since, still no reply. I was looking at some health and beauty stores this morning lots of things listed but 1 store the seller hasn't been back since last Oct., 1 last Dec. and the 3 in March, if the sellers aren't going to monitor their stores why leave them open? Lots of things listed with no way of getting in touch with the buyers, not a good way to build a site up if you can't get the sellers to respond or at least come back to the site ever now and then.

This has been a much-discussed topic with no clear response from above, so far. I would say that by asking a question prior to bidding/buying, you have taken the option that is open to you, and have identified one store that is probably not being monitored by the seller.

I have been looking for a few items here, and have run into similar non-attentive sellers. But each time I check back for similar products, there are more people selling in the categories I browse, hopefully you will have similar luck and be able to win through with a purchase soon

Ebid are going to have to address this issue or else the site is going to get a bad reputation.

I don't see the point of having the things listed, taking up space, that one has to weed through, if there isn't going to be someone there to sell it. If the seller wanted to sell too bad then they could at least monitor their items. I am wondering if that some are even around at all, if their email address has changed and they aren't getting the notice of a pending question. It makes it hard to purchase something if the seller is not around, some will go else where to make their purchases if they can't get some of the sellers to respond to them. Since I have been waiting on an answer about the book I wanted, I have purchase 5 on other sites.

I seem to recall someone suggesting if the seller doesn't log in for X amount of time the listing automatically close. That seems reasonable. I would say if you don't log in for 90 days your listings are automatically put on hold and remain on hold for an additional 90 then dropped. I would think a notification of both events would be prudent.
I have new listings! Check them out!

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.
Fed up with paying to sell?

Yup, all things that have been mentioned before. Frustrating, but there it is, the situation we find ourselves in.

I might be wrong, but I think if their email address has changed, they end up with a line through their name? Or perhaps that is only when something about their banking information has changed. Hopefully someone with more understanding of that will come along shortly

If a book seller does not have the smarts to list the amount of pages.. why would anyone buy. Just walk on bye.

eBid is quite able to 'nudge' buyers and sellers for Feedback, so why not have a similar system in place and nudge any seller who hasn't logged in for say 60 days, and if there is no sign of life give a warning of 30 days and then 'three strikes and you're out'. The 'good' sellers deserve this sort of clean-up to be a continuous thing if the site is to flourish.

I am not convinced ASQ is working

    Seriously?

You would walk past a perfectly good read because the seller did not state the number of pages?

I think you have just solved where we are all going wrong.

I have done a quick survey and taken the first thirty book sales from different sellers and only six of those gave the amount of pages.

One guy though was a coin dealer, rather than a book dealer, so I suppose he can be excused for not giving the amount of pages, as it would seem books are not his field.

Of my own books, I just went through the first thirty I currently have listed and was quite shocked to find out of these I have only given the number of pages for nine of those listings.

    Thanks for the heads up.

If I was wondering why I wasn't getting any bids from you, I know why now.

If you see anything you fancy amongst my listings, with no page amount, I'll be happy to take a question, along the lines of how many pages does the book have?

Oh ,wait a minute, I am not convinced ASQ works

Please enllighten me, what is so important about the number of pages in a publication. Surely it is more important that whatever pages there are are in good condition?
