Why not chose 4 main category stores for the things that you deal in most and use the 5th store for odds and ends like I've done.
Hi, thanks for reply.. 'toaster' was first word that POPPED into my head (sorry bout the pun) but what I was thinking was if I was selling dvds and the odd console game, I would prefer to have the game in the same store. now I notice when you search for stores you narrow it down to a single cat. so people will only find my store by choosing dvd. I was wondering if its possible to add more than one cat to a store? as my theme is media (to widen the range) more than 'nothing but dvds' (could use that as the name!) lol!

As far as I know you can't add a second category for your store. When you create a store you get 1 option to place it in an appropriate category, that's it. For more exposure you will need to open a 2nd category and place it in the appropriate category.

Your about me page is excellant, Clint, but I do find it difficult to read green on yellow.
Maybe others would be OK with it but I find it hard going.

Just a comment no offence meant!

    Yes, I agree.

You might also consider shipping International Clint as many do have what is called 'Region Free' DVD players that are able to read all regional coded DVD's. Just some food for thought!

    'Welcome to eBid!!

Yes yes yes. I am in US and about 25% of my customers are overseas. Are you willing to throw away 25% or more of your possible sales by only selling to your area?

But depends on what you sell. One fella asked this question and sold auto tires. No exactly something that mails well. If you sell small interesting items that have wide appeal, sure, extend your sales to US, etc. If you have lots of heavier, bigger items, consider adding smaller ones to attract the international sales. I sell lots of heavy vintage tablecloths in US, lots of doilies, hankies to UK and Canada. Every once in a while an international person falls in love with a heavy item and pays the shipping without question. Go figure.

PP - you will find that almost 99.9999% of buyers have Paypal accounts. A very few deal only with payments by personal check or money order. If you take both, you don't lose any customers. If you limit to only google or whatever, you may lose customers.

After you take the plunge to seller+ and BEFORE you list, go thru forums and pick up selling tips/hints we have all contributed. These are important as the emphasis on ebid is good selling skills. We do not have 24 million visitors a day, all gunning for a bargain, so if you have a poorly written unsearchable title, you stuff will not get looked at. If you list all as "run until sold" your stuff is at the end of list. If you overcharge for shipping you will have no sales.

Also, I will tell you now, do not start bids low, no bidding wars here. Make first bid the one you can comfortably accept the money for, make the BIN just a $1 or 2 above that, and run a shorter auction, 7-10 days and automatically relist at least a few times. People take their time looking, and you can not rush them, especially on expensive items. No one jumps to buy 99 cent items,w/ $10 reserve, with $10 shipping. Your stuff will sit. Make first bid $7.99, reserve $9.99, and shipping reasonable, lets guess $3.99 and you will have sales.

Take the tips seriously, you will need to "hit the ground running here" as the sales are just starting to pick up now. Make sure you have POLISHED listings, good searchable titles, informative descriptions, fair shipping costs, positive tone (no threats), a bio sheet that is filled out, information and take part in the forums. It will get you bids and give you info you need to sell.

Oh, very important, contact ALL your past customers and give them reason to join ebid (hold a sale, give them a discount). If they liked you over there, they will like you here even better.

We are all here to help you in any way we can, and will even critique your first listing so that you can polish it up and make that first sale.

I hope you visit the page when it is done! I plan to get everything ready for a grand opening on thursday!!

I will consider posting to places uch as U.S. the thing is, I have about 300 dvds (good duluxe ones from private collection) and I am going to use what I get from them in investing into something new! so am open to any ideas if maybe someone wants to sell in uk from somewhere else thru me somehow??

Hi Clint, and welcome to eBid

Haven't read through this whole thread but I agree, your "All About" page is nicely done. Someone may have mentioned it earlier, but you can link your other feedback here with Repatoo, you will see mine at the bottom of my signature. Others have theirs linked with nicer buttons but this was what I could manage

I have seen repatoo on peoples listings, do you have to give them all your passwords for 'them' and ebid? there is another I keep seeing called fair trader or some such

thanks for pointing it out.. I havent looked into it but as so many seem to have it... I may have to as I NEED feedback!

I remember when I had no feedback on the dark side! I got hardly any sales! when I got to 30 odd.. a few.. over 100 and I was fighting them off!! haha and it kept getting better! I only managed 166 but still!!! (not a powerseller) I couldnt afford to sell there!!
