Thread: Please answer before I commit to lifetime!!

  1. #1

Exclamation Please answer before I commit to lifetime!!

Hi all.. Just signed up to buyer and seller status! I am very interested in the Seller+ lifetime option!! VERY!!! BUT before I can commit to spending £50 I want to know the following:

    1) When you sign up for lifetime does it say anywhere in terms that there is any chance they can start charging or is it free for life for LIFE!?

    2) Is there a limit to how much stuff you can sell?

    3) When using auction, can you set a minimum bid for free (say £9.99) and have it run for 5 days (or whatever amount) and it KEEPS re-listing until someone bids (forever)

    4) can u list a buy it now forever until sold?

    5) what happens to your store name if its closed? does it reserve the name? cos if I was HMV or AMAZON for example (i wish) and I didnt have anything in that name, does that mean someone else can steal the name??

    6) is your user name and store name copyrighted and if anyone creates one that is REALLY similar and obviously stolen from you, what can you do?

    7) can i use as many images as I want for free in html by hosting from another site?

    8) is pppay better than paypal (why/not?) and do more users use it so I'd get more sales?

these might sound like nothing but I cant find this information anywhere.

please answer honestly and not just to get me to sign up.. links to these details will be VERY GOOD!!!

    thanks!

So what do you mean about listing bin? Are you saying list it for 10 days and let it auto-relist? also you said that is not advisable 10 times. please clear.

What I mean by images, can I not upload a load of tiny gifs that I use with ebay to make the description look prettier? like those tiny gifs to round off tables etc.. I dont mean pics as such.. like more pics of the product. Maybe some banners I created like 'special offers now on' or '100% feedback' etc.. instead of using them in the 5 allowed. ebay has let me do it with turbo lister for years for free

A Don't believe that questions been asked before. Has been free to list for 10 years now and no sign to say there will be any charges in the future. Extra's do cost ie gallery picture used, no listing fee but 2% FVFee on sale See fees page on Help

    2) Is there a limit to how much stuff you can sell?
    A No

    3) When using auction, can you set a minimum bid for free (say £9.99) and have it run for 5 days (or whatever amount) and it KEEPS re-listing until someone bids (forever)
A No minimum bid up to you to set what you want. Maximum auto-relist is 10 times. After that you relist to start over again. If you have paid for featured etc it will charge at the end of every period ie 5day auction every 5 days

    4) can u list a buy it now forever until sold?
    A On seller+ as above Auto relist x 10

    5) what happens to your store name if its closed? does it reserve the name? cos if I was HMV or AMAZON for example (i wish) and I didnt have anything in that name, does that mean someone else can steal the name??
A Don't know definately at a guess if you close down and leave the site ie close you account then after a period you probably would
If you just haven't got anything listed store is taken ofline after 12 hours but stays with you, waiting for you to relist therefoe putting it back online

    6) is your user name and store name copyrighted and if anyone creates one that is REALLY similar and obviously stolen from you, what can you do?
A No up to you to copyright anything that you feels need it. Ebid is only a venue but wll not allow the same name of user or store but similar name is possible. They cannot stop every permutation

    7) can i use as many images as I want for free in html by hosting from another site?
A By using photobucket or similar you can host as many as you want but ebid allow 5 photos for free anyway and you might feel that is enough

    8) is pppay better than paypal (why/not?) and do more users use it so I'd get more sales?
A Matter of opinion. You will still need Paypal to make the best of your sales here

these might sound like nothing but I cant find this information anywhere.

ONE LAST QUESTION! I'm in uk and have always sold to UK only customers.. is it worth selling out of uk? would there be much of a risk and would it increase sales?

    Matter of opinion

I have only ever sold to UK and would not sell abroad

Many here argue that it increases their sales.

Only you can decide if you want to take that on.

    Many here have.

Thankyou that was very informative.. as I said above, the photobucket type thing will be necessary for my piece of mind as I want the option. and I'm also clear now that if I put an auction up and it doesnt sell 10 times of re-listing I simply relist it again right? I wont be using extras until I sell enough to cover this opening lifetime cost! My stock has no competition as I can see.. nobody else is selling em! I'm a paypal user so good news there also.. and the store name being safe is good too!

I know I am asking a load of questions and am very greatful for your responses!!
