First run in 1924, the Cheltenham Gold Cup was originally a prep race for the Grand National but following the heroics of pre war stars such as EASTER HERO and GOLDEN MILLER the race grew in status to become the most prestigious event in steeplechasing.
This video tells the story behind 12 great Gold Cups starting with the 1935 race and Golden Millers narrowest of victoris over Jock Whitney's brilliant Thomond II, and concludes with Irelands last winner of the 20th century IMPERIAL CALL.
