Poster : The New Astronomy : Advert for a Book by Nigel Henbest

• Condition: Used and when the poster was originally obtained, it was folded and not rolled up. This poster has since been on several walls, and has a 1 cm long tear at the top, and bottom left corner has been folded in the past. On the back page you can see 8 marks where the poster has been attached to walls.
• General Comments: This poster is to advertise the 1983 Cambridge University Press book: “The New Astronomy” by Nigel Henbest. It is quite a nice poster as it shows as a main image M51 the Whirlpool Galaxy in radio wavelengths of 21cm, but the inset pictures on the right show you what the galaxy looks like in optical light, X-Rays, near Infrared, then a bas-relief versions and intensity plots of the optical image. On the reverse of the poster we have back and white text advertising other astronomy books by Cambridge University press. This poster is for anyone who would like a nice colourful poster representing astronomy – though it would look best behind glass in a frame to iron out the folds. It also might be nice to have if you already have the book. The poster has been exposed to daylight a lot, so seems relatively colourfast in that it hasn’t shown signs of fading yet.
