From 1937 until the end of her life, Katanian was the husband of Lili Brick (officially registered in 1956). After moving to Moscow in 1927, Katanian became a member of the LEF, since June of that year he served as secretary of the magazine Novy Lef, and in 1929-1930 he joined the REF.
