Dendritic Agate Oval Cabochon: Scenic Ferns/Shrubbery on White; 6.9 cts; India

This tablet-cut gem displays fine dendrites (mineral formations resembling branched trees or shrubs) in shades of brown on a contrasting translucent white background. These come from rocks picked up in streams in northern India. It would look great set in bronze or gold, and I think would be best in an open-backed setting (so that it can get a bit of light bounced from behind). The back is polished, but doesn't show the dendrites as well as the front. This will be an eye-catching addition to your jewel design or collection.
