All items offered are genuine release (usually 1st), old, cinema movie items and so had a 'life' before sale, so unlikely ever to be mint.

This item:  On offer is a full early draft screenplay for the proposed Hammer psychological thriller, written by Jimmy Sangster (though his name does not appear on the title page). This started out as a movie entitled Brainstorm in 1963 set on a houseboat (Hammer at Bray were conveniently located by the Thames) and this 1967 Draft Screenplay retains the houseboat setting (see first full page). The story concerns a young woman with psychological frailties seeming haunted by a mysterious killer with a claw hand. This 1967 draft was produced after the earliest script when Hammer attempted to revise the movie, now instead of Brainstorm it was changed to The Claw. The movie did finally reach the screen as Fear In the Night with the houseboat setting now a cottage on school grounds (Hammer had moved out of Bray by this time). This script, is a photocopy, though properly bound in a perfect binding black cover, suggesting it was a copy to be sent out perhaps for advertising purposes (a stunning pre-production artwork poster can be seen on page 146 of Marcus Hearn's excellent Hammer Vault book), so Hammer were serious at this point getting the movie off the ground. The script comprises 112 pages and is clearly vintage. Such pieces are rarely offered. Rare

Condition: (Range from Fine – Very Good – Good – Poor with ++ to - - for further differentiation) :  Very Good ++ -:   complete, some light outer edge wear with creasing to covers; internally very good and clean with minor age wear; pages secure;  overall, certainly very good.
