CADDYSHACK (1980) could very well be the perfect comedy. The ultra-crass zillionaire, (Rodney Dangerfield), is the perfect foil for the super-snobby judge (Ted Knight). The animatronic gopher is the perfect foil for the shell-shocked, hopelessly inept assistant greens-keeper (Bill Murray). The central theme of class warfare, w/ young, poor caddy, Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe) vying for a college scholarship, taking useless spiritual council from mystic / golfer, Ty Webb (Chevy Chase), is, you guessed it, perfectly lampooned! Classic scenes? Well, how about "The Caddy Water Ballet" and "Baby Ruth Candy Bar Incident" at the pool? Or just about any scene w/ Knight, Dangerfield, Chase, or Murray? Director, Harold Ramis caught comic lightning in a bottle! It's a hilarious wonder from beginning to -explosive- end! One of a short list of movies that I'll drop anything to watch whenever it's on! Highest recommendation...
