The book was written on the basis of the first published drawings of Russian cities: Pechora, Pskov, Novgorod, Torzhka, Tver, Moscow, as well as some monasteries and places, N. Witsens drawings of Russian cities were never published and were found in the cartography department of the Austrian National Library in Vienna, which granted the author the right of publication.
