Fragen & Antworten
Frage von pasasap [+31] Sa 29 Jul 2023 18:47:21 (CEST) Everything about this set is wrong. First, you improperly describe this set as a Specimen (SP) set, which is incorrect. A Prooflike (PL) strike is different than an Specimen (SP) Strike. Then NGC labeled the coins incorrectly themselves. If they come from a PL Set, then they should be labeled PL-70, not MS-70 PL. PL is a special strike like a Proof (PR), it is not a regular Mint State (MS) strike. MS-70 PL does not mean PL-70. MS = Business Strike made for circulation and PL Strikes are not made the same way as Business Strikes, so they are not MS. MS-70 PL means Made for circulation, but has Prooflike quality. You find this with Morgan Dollars that were made for circulation but some have mirror surfaces, so they get the PL added to the label. MS-70 means Perfect Business Strike. MS-70 PL means Perfect Business Strike with proof-like surfaces. PL-70 means Perfect Prooflike Strike. SP-70 means Perfect Specimen strike. PR-70 ULTRADCAM means Perfect Proof Strike with an ultra-deep cameo surface. If these were first strikes made for Business (circulation) but came out perfect and with mirror-like surfaces, then they would be labeled correctly. But, they are from PL sets, so they are labeled incorrectly.
