The Workbasket and Home Arts Magazine by Modern Handcraft Inc. September 1988 NO. 10 VOL. 53

This 64 page magazine contains crafts, recipes, and home making ideas.

The theme for this edition is Fall Needlework.

From The Editor

Dear WORKBASKET Readers:

Fall is here! That means you have finished gardening and most outdoor activities have been completed. Now it’s time to turn to needlework. The cooler weather seems to beckon us to pick up knitting needles, crochet hooks or work at our sewing machines. Our fall and winter issues have some exciting projects, not only sweaters, vests and afghans but also decoration pieces and toys. Halloween cries out for black cats and pumpkins, so in October there will be a black cat to crochet and a pumpkin to knit. Thanksgiving always means turkey so you will find an unusual turkey, not to eat, but to crochet for a centerpiece. And in a later issue, a dinosaur to crochet.

Aunt Ellen’s Book Service has published six “How-’Ib” booklets on needlework that have been edited by The WORKBASKET Staff. Recently we have offered the U.S. State Quilt Block book. Now Aunt Ellen’s Treasury of Afghans to Crochet is available. It is a collection of the 30 most requested crocheted afghan patterns that we have published. It sells for $6.95 plus $1.25 postage. For additional information, this book is described on page 53 along with an order blank.

In putting the August, 1988 issue together, I guess my head was in the clouds. I completely forgot to include the color key that would enable you to work the counted cross stitch lighthouse chart. On page 60 of this issue you will find the color key.
