Scapolite Cat's Eye Cabochon: Sharp Line in Translucent, Icy Gem; 7 mm

This cabochon has a beautiful, icy-white color, with a sharp, thin chatoyant line that moves over the stone as the light shifts. It is unusual to find chatoyant optical phenomenon in near-transparent and colorless scapolite, so this is certainly a collector piece. Burmese cat's eye scapolites are famed for the fineness of the internal silk that produces the chatoyant phenomenon, and in this piece it allows a lot of light to travel through and around the stone. This could be used as an eye in a zoomorphic jewelry design, or as an interesting gemstone for a special ring, pendant or other jewel design.
