3 - Jul. - Aug. 1977 - NM- "The Fugitive!" is by Michael Fleisher, José Luis García-López and Colourist Liz Berube, as Hex takes on an evil man named Matt Henson to help the Jacobs Family! 
4 - Sept. 1977 - FN/VF - "The Day of the Chameleon!" by Michael Fleisher and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez sees A criminal calling himself the Chameleon disguise himself as Jonah Hex and robs the Fernwood-Wentworth stagecoach. He sees the real Jonah riding along a trail in the lower valley and takes a shot at him and pierces Jonah's side, when a woman named Joanna Mosby finds Hex and brings him back to her farmhouse. Then a man named Ned Landon has framed Jonah for three murders as the Chameleon disguises himself as a one-legged veteran and arrives at Joanna's doorstep. He asks her for food and water and uses the opportunity to plant the stagecoach loot inside of the house then travels to the local Sheriff's office and tells him that he saw Jonah Hex with the stolen money at the Mosby farm! The Sheriff and his deputies raid the farmhous and Jonah manages to escape and rides to the Ranch home of his nemesis Quentin Turnbull, who reveals that he hired both The Chameleon and Ned Landon to frame Jonah out of revenge for destroying the life of his son! aftera fight, he races back to the Mosby farm to save Joanna, where he finds that the Chameleon and Joanna are working together! The Chameleon ties them both to chairs, but Jonah gets free and fights starts a fire and Joanna and Hex escape, leaving the Chameleon trapped in the flames. The Chameleon eventually manages to get out of the house, but his face is now horribly scarred!
5 - Oct. 1977 - VF/NM - "Welcome to Paradise" by John Albano and Tony DeZuniga shows Hex has been hired by the mayor of Paradise Corners to eliminate the Big Jim's Raiders, a group of saddle tramps led by Big Jim who have been terrorizing the town to force people off their land and make money selling it to a railway company!
6 - Nov. 1977 - NM- - "The Lawman!" by Michael Fleisher, Ernie Chan, Noly Panaligan and Liz Berube pit Hex against a Marshall that's been hunting him for the death's of several men back in issue # 2!
8 - Jan. 1978 - NM- - Talk about a KEY Issue! The Mark of The Demon!" by Michael Fleisher, Ernie Chan & Vincente Alcazar show in stark reality of how hard the times were in the old West, as Hex makes an enemy that murders his family and SCARS his Face  for the rest of his life!!
9 - Feb. 1978 - NM- - This issue kicks off with an awesome Bernie Wrightson Cover!! "The Carlotta Conspiracy!" is by Michael Fleisher, Ernie Chan, Danny Bulanadi, Jerry Serpe and Letterer Milt Snapinn, as Hex meets a tough guy with a great quote: "So you see, when I shooted at Senor Hex, I miss heem on purpose because he is my good frien'! Besides -- if I keel him dead, how weel I be able to enjoy the pleasure of keeling him slowly?" — El Papagayo!!
11 - April 1978 - VF/NM- -has a classic Rich Buckler/Dick Giordano Cover! "The Holdout!" is by Michael Fleisher, Rich Buckler, Dick Giordano, Bob LeRose and Ben Oda, as Jonah Hex takes on a trio of Jaspers---who wind up killing Joanna Moseby from issue # 4! 
12 - May 1978 - NM- - "The Search for Gator Hawes" by Michael Fleisher, Vincente Alcazar, Bob LeRose and Todd Klein sees Hex in the Louisiana Bayou hunting an inbred Family! Gator and his Kin are on home turf and Hex is in the fight of his life!!
14 - July 1978 - FN - This issue Introduces The Sin Killer by David Michelinie, Vincente Alcazar, Bob LeRose and Ben Oda! Jedidiah Kane - the Sin Killer, and his Gang, Luke and Rafe Stolper want Hex dead by any means necessary!!
