A cute but crude imitation miniature Russian laquer box. The box has has a black laquer coating with gold-colored embelishments on the top and sides. A postcard-like picture is attached to the top of the box and laquered over. The picture depicts a winter scene with a horse drawn sleigh in front of church/cathedral/monastary scene. The laquer box scene has 'Fedoskino' printed below the winter scene.
The piece is of unknown age and unknown origin. Painted on unknown wood. I am not an art expert but this appears to be a box trying to pass itself off as a true Fedoskino laquer box. The picture on the box is not handpainted. Instead it is more like a picture postcard attached to the box and then laquered over. The box does not have the Fedoskino trade mark on the lid. This was probably sold originally as a cheap imitation tourist trinket.
This box weighs 2.7 ounces. It is approximately 3.5 inches in length x 1.5 inches in height x 2.25 inches in depth.
In acceptable condition. It does have some damage to the lid along with some cracking of the laquer. See picture.
It is being sold as used in "AS IS" condition as a tourist trinket. Please see pictures and ask questions before purchasing.
