Seller's Description

Elevate your collection with these exquisite Definitive issue Germany Stamps Scott Catalog #574-577. These stamps are from the 2nd Allied Control Council Issue Series for the American, British and Soviet occupation or the Trizone as it's known. The 1, 2 and 3 Mark (Reichsmark) issues were all issued on May 1, 1947 and the 5 Mark on February 1, 1948. Each denomination was also printed in a different color and quantity. The Olive Green, 1 Mark stamp had 77,200,000 issues printed, the Violet Brown 2 Mark had 24,250,000 issues, the Brownish Red 3 Mark with 19,800,000 printed and the Lilac Ultramarine 5 Mark only 9,600,000 issues printed, all four issues printed by Berliner Staatsdruckerei. They were all recess printed meaning- the design was engraved on the printing plate and the recesses thus formed from doing so were filled with ink. Each also has a watermark reading "DEUTSCHE POST" impressed diagonally multiple times in the up direction. They all measure 28 X 33 mm in size and have a comb perforation measurement of 14. Comb Perforation is one in which the perforating pins are arranged in a comb pattern, a long horizontal line with short vertical lines. They all featured the captivating doves design by the stamp designer Hans Wilm Hopfner. These Mint, Never-Hinged stamps represent a unique piece of history from the WWII era. Each stamp showcases intricate details that make them not only a collector's dream but also a conversation starter. Investing in these stamps means securing a tangible connection to a pivotal time in history. Their pristine condition ensures that you are adding value to your collection while enjoying the beauty of German philately.
