THE CARDIFF REGION: A SURVEY.
The British Association has met in Cardiff on two occasions. The first time was so long ago as 1891 and the second was in 1920. During the last forty years great changes have occured in the region and in our detailed knowledge of it. This survey endeavours to record some of thse. For the purpose of the investigation, the region has been defined as east Glamorgan, the whole of Monmouthshire and part of Breconshire. Following the usual pattern, special attention has been paid to landscape and climate, geology, botany and zoology. To enable members to appreciate human aspects of the development of the region, contributions have been included on the Welsh language local place-names, the historical and literary background and the economic structure. Brief accounts of the history of the educational and other cultural institutions in Cardiff have also been included.
