Airguns have progressed from mere toys, irrelevant to serious shooting, to their present status as weapons of World Championship quality. This has come about through a number of pressures, chief amongst them being the low cost of airgun ammunition and the ease with which a safe airgun firing range can be constructed.
Enormous improvements in weapon design have been achieved by the continental gun makers, with the consequence that marksmen trained in other shooting disciplines have either added an irweapon to their armoury or transfered entirely to an airgun. At the present time increasing numbers of young shooters are being attracted to theairgun as an ab initio weapon, and thus cannot benefit from the considerable body of 'law and literature' available to those starting in other disciplines....
