Seller's Description
Please note condition!
Original aerial propaganda leaflet. [Wehrmachtpropaganda 1944]. 2 pages. 104 x 68 mm.
Code E116/3.44. - Auckland/Moore GB26.
In March 1944 the Germans printed a series of six small leaflets. They "were intended to be used against Allied troops as and when the fortress of Europe was invaded. Each was concerned with the divide-and-conquer policy so much loved by the German strategists, and asked British soldiers why were they fighting for Russia. This theme was a favourite one of Germany’s propagandists who right up to the end of the war continued it in the hope for a rapprochement with Great Britain to fight against the Soviets… Like all the aerial leaflets used by the Germans over this country they were written in perfect English and no doubt written by a renegade. There is no doubt that all six leaflets of the series were dropped over the Normandy beaches once the invasion had started." (Auckland & Moore, Messages from the sky over Britain, p. 56).
A scarce leaflet.
Torn in half and marginal tears (repaired with archival tape), creased, marked and chipped . - Poor condition.
