All items offered are genuine release (usually 1st), old, cinema movie items and so had a 'life' before sale, so unlikely ever to be mint.

Background: In the early 1970s Hammer proposed making a movie based on the atrocity of the Lidice massacre in what was then Bohemia and Moravia, now the Czech Republic. When Reich Protector Reinhard Haydrich was assassinated in 1942, Hitler ordered reprisals on the village of Lidice where hundreds of inhabitants were killed or sent to concentration camps (some being gassed) - this was an historic event - a well documented genocidal massacre. Don Houghton wrote a story of Nazi cruelty and torture based on this historic event and Peter Cushing was to play the role of a sadistic security officer.

This itemPeter was noted for the thoroughness of his preparations for his movie roles and on offer here is a painting from Peter's portfolio of one of the locals clearly caught by the German soldiers, with arms raised; it is a more detailed piece and houses Peter's full signature, in pencil, to the bottom left of the image. The proposed movie was never made, being an example of 'The Unfilmed Hammer'. This piece was originally sold at 'The Canterbury Auction Galleries' under the heading The Peter Cushing Collection on Tuesday 30th July, 1996. A great item for the collector.  Rare / Unique
