This is a postcard showing a Mallet compound engine locomotive, used by Southern Pacific Railway to pull trains over the High Sierras in California. It is unposted.
The card is in fair condition, with some wear to the corners and edges, and some marks on the back. Someone has written “runs backwards” on the back.
