This is a Philips AX2400 personal portable cd player. Its a well laid out design having the main transport controls mounted to the lid, a play/pause ring is kept separate from the search controls which are part of the 4 way cluster below the LCD panel, that displays the current track position, elapsed time etc.
Around the centre of the unit there are a hold button that when set to the on position prevent the players electronic controls from being accidentally operated. A button to turn the "ESP" circuit on or off is next and this is Philips 45 second electronic shock protection system. An electronic volume switch is fitted next to this and this will adjust the volume up or down. This in turn adjusts the volume that comes from the standard 3.5 mm mini phone jack. A lid open slide switch releses the catch thst holds the spring loaded lid securely closed.The bottom casing holds the resume switch and this allows the player to resume the replay point where it was last stopped.
A DC power input jack is fittd to the rear of the centre casing.
The player is operated by using 2 X AA Batteries (not supplied), or a 4.5 volt DC power supply (not supplied) can be connected to the DC input jack.
 
The sound qualoity produced by this player is excellent. It will replay cdr discs, and it was tested using quality discs burnt at 8 X speed playing up to the 80 minute point where it performed perfectly. The unit is in excellent condition and shows little signs of previous use. All functions operate exactly as intended and the player is free of defects.
CDR Disc replay is supported on this player, but the Discs should be quality brand named types burnt at speeds of 8X and lower on a reliable Cd burner. An electronic shock protection circuit is fitted and provides excellent performance, but the circuit will not operate reliably if the casing is subjected to sustained impact. This unit is not suitable for use as an in car player.
