This personal portable CD player is a Philips Activ, its quite different to many others insofar as its constructed to be splash/weatherproof. The lid and base interface feature a synthetic seal that prevents moisture entering the cd compartment, the headphone socket has a rubberised cover that seals it when not in use. The lid features a locking clasp that also keeps the lid sealed. The player also comes with its splashproof soft case, the inside is lined with a water repellant material.
Its equivalent to the Sony "sports" CD players, but it has more weatherproof features and a sturdier build quality.

The lid of the player carries the most often used functions and these are flexible raised portions made of a rubberised material, so that there is no chance of water entering the electronic circuits. The functions are DBB, this is Philips own bass boost system that offer low frequency reinforcement, programme, this allows tracks to programmed in any preferred order,stop, "ESA" this is a Philips designed circuit that offers 45 seconds of memory buffer in the event of sudden movement, the system can be turned off by pressing this button which will lengthen the life of Batteries, play/pause,last track/reverse search, next track/forward search.
A decent sized LCD panel is fitted,and this shows track elapsed time, current track number etc.

The side casing holds other sockets and functions. Theres a hold/resume switch and a rotary thumbwheel volume control. This is linked to a standard 3.5 mm mini earphone jack that is found behind a rubberised cover. The rear holds a 4.5 volt DC power input jack. Also theres a tough webbing carrying strap carrying the Philips logo.

The player is powered by using 2 X AA Batteries (not supplied) or a 4.5 volt DC power supply (not supplied) can be used.

This CD player sounds excellent, theres lots of detail and the music is reproduced very realistically, yet theres never any harshness present, the stereo image is nice and wide and the sound has real depth.
It will replay cdr discs with no fuss, it was used to play a quality cdr recorded at 8 X spoeed using the full 80 minutes duration and it tracked and accessed all tracks perfectly, the search time is very rapid.

Like any other CD player this one will not reliably replay dirty/damaged CD Discs, CDR discs will reliably replay in this unit provided that they are quality brand named and burnt on a reliable drive at speeds no higher tham 8X.

Please take a look at the supplied photos and ot'll be obvious that the player is in excellent condition. Theres very little signs of previous use. All of the controls and functions operate perfectly and the unit looks superb and different to the usual types available This is a very nice player and looks little used.
