Seller's Description

A Driver's Eye View of Cornwall, 'A Drive up the A30 - Penzance to the Jamaica Inn, Bodmin' - on DVD (DV007)

A Driver's Eye View
Take a road trip up the A30 road through Cornwall in this, the seventh in my series of real-time dvd drives, just one in a series of 'Dave's Cornwall DVD's' that feature a driver's eye view of the highways and byways of Cornwall, Devon and the West Country. Approximately 55 minutes of pure driving pleasure, filmed using a top quality car camera, and accompanied with gentle soothing music. See what Cornwall is really like through the changing season, especially when the roads are quiet.

The Journey:
Just sit back, relax, and take in the view as we take a steady late spring-early summer Sunday morning drive in May, up the A30 road from Penzance to the Jamaica Inn at Bolventor on Bodmin Moor. The sun is shining and the skies are clear blue as we begin our journey on the Penzance Bypass, just past the Heamoor roundabout. As we continue down the bypass towards Tesco roundabout, Mounts Bay comes into view, with St Michael's mount sitting on the horizon. It's 9am, but there are one or two cars about as we head on Eastern Green, past the new Sainsurys Supermarket and onto the Long Rock bypass, taking a left turn at the Newtown roundabout, and continuing up the A30 towards Crowlas.

After driving through Crowlas we pass the hamlets of Whitecross, Canon's Town, and Rose-An-Grouse, passing the St Erth turn-off and going straight across the St Ives roundabout as we make our way up the Hayle Bypass to the Loggans Moor roundabout. We continue straight up the A30, going down and up the other side of Roseworthy Dip, bypassing Camborne, Pool, Redruth, and Scorrier, and eventually approaching the big roundabout at Chiverton Cross. Here we take the third exit and continue up the A30 which is now single carriageway again, eventually bypassing the village of Zelah and continuing through Boxheater to the Carland Cross roundabout. Here we continue along the now dualled A30, bypassing Mitchell and Chapel Town, and continuing up the hill past McDonalds, as we bypass Penhale and Fraddon, over the top of the hill, bypassing Indian Queens and continuing along the A30 dual carriageway through Goss Moor, and passing the Victoria turn off.

The A30 winds it's way around Lanivet and eventually Bodmin, as we make our way up past Blisland, and on to Higher Carblake, where the road becomes single carriageway for the next couple of miles until we reach Temple and see the A30 dual carriageway snaking it's way before us over Bodmin moor (this section of single carriageway between Higher Carblake and Temple is to be dualled in the near future). We continue for a few more miles until we reach the Bolventor exit and cross under the dual carriageway, briefly driving up what was the old A30 on the other side, into the village of Bolventor, and pulling into the Jamaica Inn, just in time for an early lunchtime ploughman's lunch and a pint of Bodmin's best!

Experience West Cornwall:
In this DVD you will experience Cornwall on a beautiful late spring morning, when the skies are clear blue, the roads are relatively quiet, and noon fast approaches as the scorching sun climbs higher into the crystal clear Cornish sky. The trees are now in bloom, and the roads are becoming a little busier than winter, as both locals and the occasional tourist head out to take advantage of the early summer weather. The stark beauty and tranquility of Bodmin Moor, when the days are becoming longer and everyday life merges with the occasional caravan and camper winding their way up the A30. A lovely 1 hour sojourn away from the humdrum of the city.

The Disc:
The dvd is both PAL (Europe) and NTSC (USA) region, so it doesn't matter where in the world you come from, it will play in any stand alone DVD player with your TV set, or on a computer. Complete with chapter points in the film so that you can navigate to specific areas of the tour by using the forward and reverse arrows on your remote control if you wish.

The dvd comes in a simple envelope, no bulky box or case, so all costs are kept to a minimum.
