Seller's Description

[Title]: L’Amérique en Guerre. No. 95. Le 29 Mars 1944.

Original aerial propaganda newspaper, illustrated. [O.W.I. 1944]. 4 pages. 213 x 266 mm. Text in French.

USF.102.

A French- language aerial newspaper, dropped by the U.S. Army Air Force, featuring war news from all fronts.

This rare and interesting issue contains extracts from a broadcast speech delivered by Winston Churchill on 26 March 1944, it also reprints a warning issued by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

It reads in parts: ”... Those who have participated in acts of cruelty will not go unpunished... All those who knowingly took part in the deportation of Jews to Poland or of Norwegians or Frenchmen to Germany, are guilty just like the executioner, and all who share the responsibility will share the punishment... As a result of the events of the past few days hundreds of thousands of Jews, living under persecution, who had finally found refuge in Hungary and the Balkans, are now threatened with extermination. If these innocent people, who were able to survive ten years of Hitler's fury, should perish on the eve of the triumph over barbarism, would be a terrible tragedy...".

Rare variant leaflet missing the line: “Apporté au Peuple Français par l’Armée de l’Air Américaine”, usually printed in red at the bottom of the title page.

Folded in half (not exactly in the middle), worn and torn, tape repairs, acceptable.

Please note: the leaflet will be mailed folded along the existing fold lines.
