Mars Pathfinder Colour (faded) Landscape (heavily used) Poster - 1997

• Size: 152cm wide x 29cm tall (this includes the border)
• Weight with poster tube: 108g
• Printed on matt paper with non-colour fast ink, so can/has faded under considerable daylight exposure.
• Condition pretty faded in terms of colour – several creases and small tears on the edges. Examine the images carefully to see what you are getting. Some blu-takc marks on the back and pin holes on the corners where it has been attached to the wall. The low price reflects the conditions of this used poster.
• This is a NASA image mosaic printed out on a non-NASA colour plotter back in the late 1990's.
• The NASA Mars Pathfinder, and its rover, Sojourner, landed on the Ares Vallis area of Mars in 1997. The first time anything had landed successfully since the two NASA Viking Landers in 1976. A mosaic was made of separate camera images, to make up this panorama. Note the orange/pink sky which is the result of scattering of light from the surface particles in the atmosphere. The image pretty much spans 360 deg as the lander had 3 solar panels, one of which is split between the far-left edged and the far-right edge.
• Possible uses: as it is faded in colour, consider this as a light monochrome panorama to put on the wall above a desk or bed to make it look as though you are looking out on the surface of Mars when you are at work or wake up in the mornings. Could be useful as a backdrop for manual stop motion animation. Could be useful for collage work if you want lots of examples of martian rocks or bits of rover and spacecraft.
