Leicester 1976, Braunstone Bus on Charles Street, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large 11"" inch x 8"" inch photo of a period street scene at the junction of Charles Street and Humberstone Gate , Leicester, in 1976. A Leicester Corporation 1965 Leyland Titan PD3A/1 bus, fleet number 69, registration plate CJF69C, route 17 and destination board 'Braunstone' turns left onto Charles Street, past what was then the Woolwich Equitable Building Society and is now 'The Best Connection' distribution company. A 1967 Simca saloon car, registration registration JNR922E is alongside the bus, and the 'Palais' Dance House can be seen in the far distance.
This area is very much the same as it was back in the 1970's except for some slight pedestrianisation and change of business owners in the establishments.
The Leyland Titan bus is now in private storage.
An interesting everyday scene in Leicester city centre in the 1970's.
