Seller's Description

Original British 11 inch x 17 inch Trade Advertisement for the 1947 Vernon Sewell Fantasy THE GHOSTS OF BERKELEY SQUARE, based on the novel by Caryl Brahms & S.J. Simon and starring Robert Morley, Felix Aylmer, Yvonne Arnaud, Claude Hulbert, Ernest Thesiger, Marie Lohr, Martita Hunt, A.E. Matthews, John Longden, Ronald Frankau, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Wally Patch, Esme Percy, Mary Jerrold , James Hayter, Edward Lexy and Aubrey Mallalieu.

The ghosts of General Burlap and Colonel Kelsoe are condemned to haunt a house in Berkeley Square, to pay for a crime committed against Queen Anne. The ghosts will only be permitted to cross over to the afterlife if they can lure a reigning British monarch to visit. The house changes ownership over the years, and is reopened as gambling den, all the while the ghosts long for freedom. Finally, it is bombed in an air raid and Queen Mary visits to inspect the damage.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with a centre vertical fold.
