Elizabeth I Milled Sixpence, 1562, i.m. Star (S 2595) [.925 Silver, approx 26mm - 2.7g].
O. ELIZABETH D G ANG FRA ET HIB REGINA around crowned bust, left.
R. POSVI D(EVM) AD IVTORE M MEVM around shield containing Royal Arms, on long cross fourchee.
Toned, bent, but a reasonable example with no flan splits; these pieces are among the first milled coins to be struck here, and this date is probably the commonest. SPINK 2023:- £140 in Fine.
Some sellers have little or no knowledge about coins, but I have been collecting for over 40 years, so buy with confidence from an honest seller, NOT LIARS WHO DESCRIBE COMMON PIECES AS RARE.
