East Grinstead Bus at Sidlow Garage Reigate 1966, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large 12" inch x 8" inch photo of a London Country bus with passengers at the old Sidlow Garage in Sidlow, Reigate in 1967. The bus is a 1966 Leyland, Registration JLA48D, Fleet number XA48, Route 424, Destination 'East Grinsted, Crawley Down, Copthorne, Felbridge, Smallfield'. The station manager can be seen on petrol pump duty in his white overall coat, filling a saloon car, while the smartly dressed driver stands next to him in shirt, smart trousers and gaberdine. There is a rack of Castrol pint oil cans on display, and this was obviously a repair shop as there is signage depicting 'Repairs' and 'Spraying', as well as a 'Free World Cup Coins' advertisement board which gives a clue to the year.
Since then the garage and surrounding entrance area has had numerous haphazard modifications, and it is now the Reigate Motor Company.
