Seller's Description

A Driver's Eye View of Far West Cornwall, 'St Buryan to Marazion & St Micheal's Mount' Drive around Lands End area - on DVD (DV005)

A Driver's Eye View
Take a road trip around the Lands End area in this, the fifth in my series of real-time dvd drives, just one in a series of 'Dave's Cornwall DVD's' that feature a driver's eye view of the highways and byways of Far West Cornwall. Approximately 55 minutes of pure driving pleasure, filmed using a top quality car camera, and accompanied with gentle soothing music. See what Cornwall is really like out of season when the roads are quiet.

The Journey:
Just sit back, relax, and take in the view as we take a steady mid-winter drive from St Buryan, heading out west on Lands End Road, and taking the right turn that takes us on the narrow back road towards Sennen, passing Alsia Mill and Trevear Farm, soon after which we turn left onto the A30, passing Sennen Primary School, then Mayon Garage and the First & Last pub as we make our way through Sennen Churchtown. We continue down the A30 past the caravan site and all the way to the end of the A30 as we arrive at Lands End, where we drive around to the rear of the hotel and park on the Lands End cliff for a moment as we take in this late afternoon Atlantic winter view.

From Lands End we head back up the A30, but before reaching the caravan site we turn right and make our way through the hamlet of Trevescan, continuing along the B3315 for another 5 minutes until we take the left turn and head up the narrow country lane through Trebehor, then down the hill to Bottoms, turning left by the school and making our way up the hill where the road meanders through the tranquil hamlet of Crean. Once through Crean we turn left on the Lands End Road and make our way back through St Buryan again, where we can see the temporary canopy in place on the church as the roof is being repaired. Passing the St Buryan petrol station we continue for 2 miles until we meet the A30 again at Catchall, where we take a right turn and make our way down through Drift and Buryas Bridge on our way to Penzance.

At the Mount Misery roundabout we take a right turn down Alverton Road, past the Ropewalk, this being the origional A30 trunk road route through Penzance before the bypass was built in the late 1980's. Just after the YMCA, at the mini-roundabout we take a right turn and head down Alexandra Road, past the football ground, and taking another right when we get to the promenade, we make our way on to Lidl supermarket at Wherrytown, where we do an about turn and head along Western Promenade towards Penzance, passing the Jubilee Pool, the dry dock, and crossing over Ross Bridge, going along Wharfeside and past the harbour car park as we make our way out of the other side of Penzance - after which we pass the railway station which is fully scaffolded as major renovations are being undertaken on the platform canopy.

After passing Chyandour we come to the roundabout next to Tesco supermarket, and we continue along Eastern green, past the heliport (before Sainsburys and the awkward roundabout were built), and at the big roundabout, continuing on past Morrisons petrol station to the the Long Rock mini roundabout, where we take a right and continue over the railway bridge and past the St Micheal's mount car park, seeing it as it was before they made the cycle path and stopped camper vans from parking there.

Finally we continue through Marazion and up to the roundabout, where we turn left and head along the Marazion bypass back towards Penzance. At the A30 roundabout we take a left and continue the loop back to the car park by The Station pub, where we pull in and spend a few moments taking in the winter splendor of St Michael's Mount and Mounts Bay.

Experience West Cornwall:
In this DVD you will experience far West Cornwall on a mid-winter's late afternoon, when the skies are overcast, the roads are quiet, and dusk fast approaches as the afternoon quickly heads towards the cold evening. The trees are bare and the occasional crow takes flight from the winter hedgerow. The stark beauty and tranquility of the Lands End Peninsula when the days are at their shortest and everyday life moves at it's own pace. A lovely 1 hour sojourn away from the humdrum of the city.

The Disc:
The dvd is both PAL (Europe) and NTSC (USA) region, so it doesn't matter where in the world you come from, it will play in any stand alone DVD player with your TV set, or on a computer. Complete with chapter points in the film so that you can navigate to specific areas of the tour by using the forward and reverse arrows on your remote control if you wish.

Packaging:
The dvd comes in a simple envelope, no bulky box or case, so all costs are kept to a minimum.
