Original 1894 5 1/8 inch x 7 7/8 inch engraving titled A FAMILY PARTY OF SOUTHERN SEA-LIONS.

Sea lions are sea mammals characterized by external ear flaps, long foreflippers, the ability to walk on all fours, short, thick hair, and a big chest and belly.

Engraved by Gustav Ludwig Heinrich Mützel (1839 - 1893). A German artist, famous for his mammal and bird paintings, including the illustrations for the second edition of Alfred Edmund Brehm's ‘Thierleben’ and Richard Lydekker's ‘The Royal Natural History’.
