Thread: Royal mail

Royal Mail "Signed For" is a huge rip-off and not worth the extra charge. In one respect you were lucky that your post managed to get as far as being logged as Recorded Signed for even if the postie didn't do his job.I also paid for this service and my letter never reached the addressee, nor was it logged as Signed for so there is no record of it apart from my copy of the receipt.I do hope you get a satisfactory answer to your letter of complaint. If you had sent your complaint as an e-mail you would have ended up being given the run around and asked to re-send your complaint without "attachments" even when there are no "attachments" - something to do with their system being unable to read non existent "attachments". I have had three of these "attachments" e-mails from them and they still have not dealt with my original complaint.

Most posties do a great job and in all jobs there will be one or two iffy ones.
If the Goverment allow firms to cherry pick whos mail they do the Royal Mail will have to make further cuts.
Its a shame firms like TNT cant be told now you have collected the bulk mail now you deliver it and then see what it would cost , companies would flock back to Royal Mail.

couldnt agree more, my hubby is alos a postie and he refused to wear the issue boots due to "poor of quality" and wears walking boots instead (which we have to pay out of our own pocket at £90 a time and they only last about 5-6 months before the soles wear out - dont mind though as the amount of times he has gone over on his ankle or fallen and the boots have saved his ankles - if he was wearing the standard issue he reckons he would have broken his ankle). Would be nice if they were provided with decent boots and rain coats that were made of goretex so you didnt end up wetter on the insdie than the outside!!!

Do be aware that RM are tightening up on uniform...here at anyrate... Posties being sent home if not wearing correct RM issue footwear & clothing
Also if your husband has an accident eg slips on ice or someone's mossy steps or as you say, goes over on his ankle (Hubby did that yesterday) and he is not wearing RM issue fotwear then he will not be covered by insurance and so anytime off recovering will be unpaid!!!!

Hubby also doesn't tend to wear the so called waterproofs as they are too hot when you are walking at pace and so the sweat wets you through more than the rain!!! he comes home drenched most days at the moment with all this heavy rain!!

People are always complaining to him their letters are wet... and why doesn't he carry an umbrella to keep the post dry!!! he points out he only has one pair of hands!
