then ask why the guys should not earn something from the site

That's very true. If the regular posters on here spent just half of the time and effort they spend posting on here promoting their Ebid stores on free advertising options with much greater traffic than these forums, we're well on our way! I'm guilty of this myself. These forums are just so addictive....
Maybe we should stop referring to Ebid as the second auction site, second always means LOSER, and call it THE GREAT NEW AUCTION SITE.
That's a very good point. It's not the "2nd largest auction site" in the U.K. It's the "Great New Auction Site!"
Offer things that aren't on ebay (trustworthyness, reliability etc not necessarily goods)
That too, is a very good point. EBid sellers could be the most "courteous and professional" sellers on the auction scene.
Ive just looked on ebid for some car stickers and guess what / None !
Used to have a big car sticker on my other car advertising SLEESEBAY.
i`ve not got wepay one installed lol never knew you could see i`m not techy enough to understand these things
Of course they should earn something from the site, but I get the feeling that we are the floor show with the real business being the banner ads and google links. I'm tired of being the floor show. I want the auctions to be the main attraction. I want ebid to be a genuine rival to ebay (new? you can't call it new except in the same way that New College, Oxford is new).
Sellers can go only so far promoting the site. We cannot speak for the site. Only the owners can do that. We need press releases (which cost very little) even if they can't run to more ads.

Dunno if this helps but last year's advertising costs in Sky magazine was £32,200 + vat for one single page advert. Advertising rates are calculated, amongst other ways, per thousand copies distributed - readers cost money and that's why it is much, much easier to target your readership by presenting the right ideas to the right readers in the first place. Now, if any of you want to split for the cost of a page ad in Sky magazine.... ? LOL
