but vivastreet seems to show your phone number, so I might remove them from there.

I thought I'd let you know how I'd got on so far, I haven't had much time to do anything today.

I've been adding my 2 Kewtonia Stores, as I think they work better for this sort of advertising, so one is in books, one in collectables, so I'm looking at the best sites to advertise those items.

My Loot ads are still on hold.

Say my ads are there but I can't find them, their emails to me are blank, & the space to show my ads in my control panel is blank. I'm waiting to hear from them, but for now I don't think they're worth the effort.You CAN post ads without the phone number, so if I can get it working it will be good.

Very easy to use, they've a WYSIWYG editor for your information,
clickable links, new ads displayed on the frontpage. Not many ads, but seem to be a fair number of users online. Ads display for 20 days, most ads are free, they give you £2.50 credit when you join which you can use for enhancements if you want to. They've got RSS feeds as well.
You can chose all across the UK as a location.
So far I like this the best

Got ads in Loot everyday for the last week...(forgot to take out my Telephone number! durrrrrrrrrr) Had 4 phone calls I just referred them to this web site.

Other ads are all on Hold! (Think they might be catching on to us?)???

Even if nobody reads the ads it's another link to your auctions, for the webots to pick up for the search engines.

It doesnt have to be free classifieds, free weblinks will let you add your ebid store as well.
I couldn't see Affordable Art listed on these, might be worth a try.

Okay I know I'm new here and I'm probably butting in but I just sat and read the whole thread. (Baby got me up at 5 then went back to sleep)

I take it that like me you lot still list on other auction sites?
I take it that you still sell stuff?
I take it that you are selling stuff in other ways?

If not you must all be on the poverty line by now (or have hard working partners)

Well why not send out leaflets with your sold Items saying
"BUY MY GOODS CHEAPER AT EBID "ebid shop address" RECEIVE A 10% DISCOUNT UNTIL THE END OF JULY" (or something similar)

Where ever the items are being sold from its definitely cheaper to sell them here and if like me you opted for the platinum package you all want to make your money back at some point.

I wouldn't list the bulk of my stuff here because I know it wouldn't sell. Most of my stuff on here is stuff that hasn't gone elsewhere (I sell market stalls too, thats why I was awake at 5 and not sleeping like my baby)

How many of you tell people you meet that you sell on auction? Not just friends and family but people you meet in the street, pubs etc?

Give them the web address and tell them to tell their friends.

Ebay didn't get popular by advertising on TV it got popular by word of mouth. And when Ebay started its fees were low enough to attract sellers and buyers alike. Ebid will always be competing with ebay because Ebay has already collared the market just like everyone knows BT provide phone lines.

The only way to make Ebid work for you the sellers is to tell everyone and get everyone to tell others. Its no good getting more sellers in if like be they don't stand a chance of selling anything because the buyers are sellers themselves.

I want this to work because its bloody cold out in the open on a December morning and it would be nice to have an income elsewhere that lets me have a week or two off a year but unless we all have the guts to admit what we do then noone is going to hear about ebid and we're all going to have our profits eaten by ebays huge fees and paypals extortionate trans charges.

By the way as its cheaper to sell here we should be able to lower our prices for our customers without loss to ourselves anyway.

Another interesting thought to add to the discussion, what would the results be if the time spent here on these forums was spent doing promotion. A very small percentage of users read these forums so these are not really a promotional vehicle. As regards sellers buying from sellers, doesn't that also happen on eBay, and in the real world as well. That is what an economy is, no one buys or sells in isolation.
