    Default Aren't spiders great?

For some little time now, there has been a spider sitting happily on its web just beyond our back door. I don't know the species, it's about a half-inch long and a mootled brown colour. The web is stretched between the wall of the house and the boundary wall. Easy enough to avoid when going between house and yard. (Easy enough to bump into, too).

We've been happy enough to let it be. Neither my wife nor myself want to needlessly hurt any creature. It's not bothering us and might even be doing us a service, since a lot of the currently-numerous midges are being caught in the web, whereas they might otherwise have made it into the house via the back door. So we call our little friend "Jenny", as in Spinning Jenny.

Today I see there are two more identical spiders on webs strung up outside the kitchen window, spaced apart roughly the width of the back wall. Looking out the window, it's almost as if we have three sentries on guard duty!

I don't have a digital camera or I'd post some pics. Wouldn't you just love that?

    err actually no I wouldn't

Can't stand spiders, especially those dark black one's, they really make me squirm.

Rats don't bother me at all, but a tiny spider can make me scream my head off

Indoors or out? We often spot some darting across the floor, some really big ones. But since it's a devil of a job to catch them, and we wouldn't want to kill them, we just let them be. If my wife does catch one, she puts it out the door. I'm not sure I'm up to picking them up!

A thread about spiders? Wot you trying to do, give me nightmares?? Before I go any further I gotta get this out of my system.....Uughhhagghhhhh! Thats better!
Spiders. Can't stand them. Terrified of them. Got spider repellants in the house and bug spray in garden! Saying that, I do try to oust spiders outside instead of harming them, but sometimes circumstances don't allow it. Like if I see one crawling on me! Cue screaming hysterics while jumping up and down in frenzy!!
And OP, PLEASE don't post piccies of them. That just might be enough to start me off looking for them! Something I try not to do!
Last time I saw one in my bedroom, I slept on the settee for five days until I found and removed it!

    Don't be so sure Shez!
They are finding their way over here through exports.
You heard about the shop assistant that was unpacking a crate of bananas and had a tarantula crawl up her arm??
    Jeez.....(shiver!)

Bug spray in the garden?! You must get through a heck of a lot of bug spray! (Tries to picture chiquita stalking through the garden with a can of bug spray).
