That's not an altogether bad thing though, because they have been around a long time and are at least offering an alternative site to the big players.

Don't quite get the image of Gazza sitting in his bedroom, in his boxers, running the site on a laptop; or am I wrong about that?

As part of a load share, perhaps Gazza could take on a student, for a very short project contract, to update some of the essentials of the site, like adding a basket?

    Gazza, any thoughts?

I doubt Gazza will answer you, and rightly so.

If I were in Gazza's shoes (or boxer shorts) I'd not take on someone to do that. Gazza is very very competent and could do it himself. It's just a matter of him becoming convinced that this really is important. Which it is (IMHO).

Not doubting the compedency, but the time it all takes is a different matter.

So if he is lurking in his bedroom, in his boxers, he might appreciate a little bit of load sharing to get the whingers and whiners into a more greatful position.

If he is the only tekki on the team, then his backlog workload must be increadible, as well as the spam and hacker fire fighting updates. Are people greatful? Overall I would say no.

So although I don't expect an answer, perhaps a chuckle, and I don't think he is an octopus with a keyboard at each tendril; bringing somebody in on a short term contract may be just what is needed to begin to bring in some of the essentials that the site needs to keep it useful, whilst minimising the Gazza workload.

in my opinion we could have the best goo gaas and do dads on the site but if we all do not actively work at getting people to visit then it is all for nothing - I am spending at least 3 hours promoting each day and have been doing this since I joined - big jump in the views on my items and some good sales - now if it just keeps on that way!

I am lucky that I sell hard to find and near unique items and people seek me out. Sales are more than ok.

However, I do also tell people in person about ebid and I leave large cards at trade fairs, boot / garage sales etc giving the eBid address and the main Store page. People usualy photograph them and occasionally look the site up on the phone. The traders normally take a card.

So, I am not specifically promoting my stuff, more the site and what the site has to offer (store catagories are a good snapshot of this) - competition is good

Reccommended - if you have an eBid store, put a link to the main page of your store (showing all listings you have in the store) on each and every listing you have, so that people can see what else you have for sale and not find it by chance. If only there was a basket to put multiple items in and occaionally remove them - - - - Gazza !
