Default Should there be a shopping basket symbol on screen

Should there be a proper shopping basket to allow buyers to make multiple purchases ?

I know, they can do this already, within an hour, it's not obvious or easy. And, they can't review and change. Buyers do not use it.

My proposal is that the site looks like other selling sites using a basket in the top right hand corner of the screen.

This makes it easy for buyers to understand what is going on and, importantly, buy more things.

I think a shopping cart would be a good idea.

Even know that we have "a cart" within each store.
This is not a typical type of cart that most sites have.

It would be nice to have a "normal" shopping cart where a buyer can place AND take out items from without commitment to purchase.

Right now, if you put an item in the cart - the buyer commits to buy and has no choice to remove items.
When there is a "commitment" to buy and the buyer doesn't pay for the item, then are given a "mark" for non payment.

When I use the cart at eBay, I am glad that I can remove items from the cart. There's a few sellers that I will buyer a lot of items, but I like to keep a budge how much to spend each time. That's where it is nice that I can remove items out of the cart without commitment to buy.

    Just my thought . . .

That's AWFUL. I can hardly believe it's true. This is a great site, but the designers have to accept that this isn't year 1990, there are now accepted conventions and design expectations. For Heaven's sake take a look at other sites, don't reinvent wheels, making them square to show what original thinkers you are.

Yes to this suggestion. Anything to make this site more appealing to potential users. I noticed that there have been 1000s of "guests" in the forums for the past few days.

Another one here for wanting a 'normal cart' on the site, I think it puts people off from buying here, lets get update to 21st century

    Of course there should.

Anything which makes it easier for the customer is going to increase sales and at the moment its not that obvious especially if you have not purchased anything here before.

As someone else mentioned the site is living in the past in many ways.

On the other hand I'm not a programmer so I have no idea of the complexity involved in doing this, I also get the impression that actually Ebid is only being run by a few people as a bit of a hobby in their spare time, hence the speed of implementing changes.

That's not an altogether bad thing though, because they have been around a long time and are at least offering an alternative site to the big players.
