Afternoon all, been a bit busy this morning, bottling some home grown Red cabbage. I also have an abundance of ripe tomatoes, and i'm looking for a good recipe for cream of tomato soup if anyone has one.

Concert last night was excellent, Steve Forbert was on good form & the support act was a young woman called Lynne Hanson from Canada

Mmmmmmm, cabbage and corned beef, now there's a meal and not just for St. Pat's.

Morning/afternoon all. George II went to his new home yesterday evening. Funny, I stil miss him but I know he'll be happy, the girl and her bf were petting him and he was purring, they really seem like nice people and can give him a nice house and a yard which I can't and no siblings to fight with. The boys are happier today, strutting around, it figures.

    Cheers,

Mmmmm - I like hearing about what people are doing canning and cooking wise. I used to love to do that a lot when I had a big garden.

No ideas for soups...but I'm sure there are a lot of good recipes online or in books.

I didn't know one of your guys was going out into the big world, Sues............I'm sure he will love it!! hugs!

Never made soup from tomatos. Most years we have an abundance of em, due to drought this year we didnt have many.

I use them up in Salsa and tomato sauce. When fresh Ill make tomato and cheese sandwiches on toast with mayo.

We've been having cheese & tomato sandwiches most days and I love tomatoes on toast, but still have loads left so I was just looking for ideas. The tomato sauce sounds a good idea, done the salsa thing, only me who likes it though!!

You can can or freeze stewed (cooked) tomatoes............and add them to stew, chilli, lasagna, sloppy joes, or veggie soup in the middle of winter!!

Ooh, cream of tomato is one of my favourites soups, it might just go on the tea-time menu now . . .
