Thread: Not good enough :(

  1. #1

    Default Not good enough :(

I have almost given up trying to buy things on eBid. Invariably the item I need is not listed or, like today, the listings are so abysmal that I give up and buy elsewhere.

My search for Orla Kiely today, brought up a few listings, almost all of which had NO gallery pics. Now, if this had been my first visit to the site, I have to say, it would have been my last.

Yes, we need more buyers; but we are desperately in need of good sellers with decent listings.

    Hello Knit_wits.....

I totally agree with you..... Whenever I want to buy something I always look at e.bid first, but as you say, listings for what you are after are nearly always thin on the ground, if indeed there at all.

Another problem I find is that sometimes it's more expensive to buy on e.bid than on e.bay..... This in itself leaves me no alternative but to go to e.bay to purchase what I require..... Unless it's books or DVD's that I am after then I find that Amazon is cheapest of all.

    Kindest Regards.....

    Ollie.

My prices here are lower than I have listed the things on ebay - because on here I am not paying so many stupid fees, and can afford to pass on the savings. (and my books are cheap simply because I want to re-home them to people who want them; the local charity shop doesn't want books *no-one reads books dear*. )
When looking to buy things I always check Ebid first because I would much rather support ebid than ebay, but again, on a budget I have to look onwards if I do not find what I need is affordable. I was recently looking at carnival masks which the theatre group needs for a show, I found some I liked, and the seller did not reply to a message about combined postage as I was thinking of getting two, so then I went to look on ebay and found similar masks for 99p each as opposed to nearly £5 each - sadly it was a no-brainer, especially as the ebid seller did not reply, though I would have still bought a couple of the ebid's sellers masks for specific characters, if they had replied.

Ditto that, although I've found some good deals on vintage books on eBid, (whoever said 'nobody reads' is full of the stuff).

Best wishes for many sales to all,

All any of us can do is keep adding fresh listings and buy here when we can.

Nobody reads? Where'd she get that from? I read a book or two a week and my husband probably reads three-four. We're never out of the library - and my three nieces love reading also - actual BOOKS!

Yes, agree. I am shocked by some of the prices sellers are asking buyers to pay for items on here. On feebay people had to keep marking up their prices to combat fees, but there were still good deals. I think people who move to this site need to keep in mind that when people come here they will only look here again if there are great deals. I figured when I joined this site that it was going to be what feebay used to be and a fun place to shop with great deals, but I gotta say I've seen A LOT of items over retail before shipping is included. If I'm going to pay retail I'm going to buy from a retail store.
