Default Stop showing views to buyers ?

    Hi Guys
I know this has come up before
But I thought I'd mention it again.

I wonder if it would be a good idea NOT to show the number of views that an auction has had to buyers.

Eg I have one auction that has been going for 9 weeks and it has had 300 views.
I think this would have a negative effect on buyers who may think that wow this auction has had 300 views and no one wants it! (This may be true.)

But I am pretty certain that most of those views are from Bots (spiders and robots) (this was what my research shows)

    What do you think ?

im in agreement with you on this one plus a rival seller from here or else were could push up the viewings although this is not suposed to be possible, a on/off facility for viewings to be live /visible would be a good option

I have to agree with the OP, I don't see any value in a number of views, as most are from bots.
This also confuses some newbies, who think actual potential buyers are looking at their stock.

Does anybody have a good word to say for "# of views" ????

Actually, I prefer to have the number of views of an auction listing viewable by potential bidders along with the numbers of bids. However, I would suggest setting it to start over with each re-listing. I don't think it makes much difference in a fixed price listing though.

Of course, it could be useful in haggling situations as it might put the thought that there may be others interested in the item in the buyer's mind.

Oh! Just to clarify, I make a distinction between auction listings & fixed price listings that I've noticed others don't seem to do. When I mention an auction listing I'm speaking of listings where the price is being determined by competitive bid only.

Why don't you 'Reset views on auto repost' on your defaults if you are unhappy with that type of number showing ?
