Ohh - there you are buttons - we are both sensible people! We will have to form an association of eBid Featherweight owners ... I don't have a free arm one - I think the free arm ones were from 1955 for a few years - mere slips of young things! I can see that the free arm would be useful for dolls clothes etc though! I am amazed how quietly the machine runs! I can see that I've bonded with this baby already!

I've just unpacked my new "baby" which will interest buttons and meebo - but bore everyone else rigid (sorry)! I'm so excited - I have to tell you all anyway!

The latest addition to the family is a Singer Featherweight sewing machine. (My modern machine is a heavy girl and far too weighty to take around with me.) I've always wanted one of these and found this one very cheap! It looks like the baby and I were made for each other - as I've just checked the serial number and - would you believe - it was born some time between March and September 1953 - just like me (well I can be more exact about me - I was born in June!) I wasn't born in Scotland either - but just ended up with a Scottish surname!

She looks like this - or will do when she's been tarted up a bit!

no seriously shes a beauty i have been sewing since i was 11years old and started on a little black hand singer with the handle on the side. They are much better looking than the modern ones, although i have had several upgrades since then. I now own a brother computerised one and it's is a lot easier i must say.
my joints are giving me greif a the moment had to go back to bed for a snozzle but i did start listing late afternoon
