Lard...I remember it well. My grandmother (Bohemian) used lard, butter and bacon grease. No other oils for cooking in her home. The jar of bacon grease was always on her window sill.
Mashed potatoes were always yellow from butter, cooking was always with lard and bacon grease combined. Her secret for her famous potato soup was the bacon grease base. Funny color but great soup.
I only use lard now to replicate her potato pancakes which must be fried in cast iron pans. Dont know why but any other pan they just dont come out right.

I loves olive oil. Sometimes have goats butter, but mainly olive oil. Extra virgin for salad dressings, but the lighter stuff for cooking. Especially chips...mmmm.
I remember everything, even what happened tomorrow.

A TV show just before dinner leaves my stomach growling with desire...

after much thougth I don't think I have a fav chef, I watch them doing all this cooking on telly and the results look so scrummy, trouble is tho, I dont get to taste any of it so might look scrummy but taste crap

My fav chefs are the ones that bring me my food when I go out to eat (might add not that often) they may not be famous, but if the food is good, thats a thumbs up in my books

I must add, I really am not a cook, I work 5 days a week so when i get home I dont want to spend time cooking (shame) weekends I am busy doing cleaning, ironing, shopping and relaxing

Life is serious but taking it too seriously robs you of

Bobby Flay is on the Food Network, very popular TV channel over here, though I'll freely admit I don't watch him for the recipes.

Now as far as talent goes, I'll take the hot British chef who does another Food Network show, Dinner Impossible! can't remember his name, he's uber sexy though and likely the most talented emergency chef I've ever seen, don't know how he does what he does, it's almost like magic.

Just checked, his name is Robert Irvine:

Happy holidaze and many sales to all,
